Interested in a Pilates Career? Become a Pilates Instructor

Pilates instructors are currently in high demand to teach in health clubs, studios and rehabilitation environments. The guidelines below might be helpful if you're investigating a career in Pilates. Or, see our Job Board for Pilates career opportunities around the world.

Compensation - what can you earn?

Established studios and health clubs pay hourly rates ranging from $15 to $40 per hour. This varies widely according to the facility and its location.

Alternatively, instructors who work as independent contractors are usually paid in one of two methods. They may earn a percentage of the amount the club or studio is taking in (typically a 50/50 to 70/30 split). Or, they may keep 100% of class fees and pay the studio an hourly rental fee.

Pricing for classes and personal training

Pilates classes range in price from free to $15 per class for mat classes, up to $35-$100+ for personal training on the apparatus. Average prices for personal training vary by geographical area, usually ranging from $50 to $70 per session.

Rehabilitation

Many rehabilitation centers are currently looking for well-qualified Pilates instructors with a medical background (PT, PT Assistant, Nursing, MD, etc.) or with advanced training in rehabilitation and post rehabilitation techniques.
